XP600 Printhead: Lifespan, Price and When to Replace It

12-10-2026

The XP600 (F1080-A1) is the most widely used print head in budget eco solvent and DTF machines — and the part most often bought fake, installed wrong, or replaced too late. Whether you run a 30cm DTF or a 1.8m eco solvent printer, this guide tells you what the head should cost, how long it should last, and how to tell maintenance from replacement.

What a genuine XP600 should cost

Genuine XP600 heads currently list around $195–225 factory-direct. If you see offers dramatically below that range, assume refurbished or counterfeit: repackaged heads cause banding, misfiring and ink system damage that cost far more than the savings. Buy from your machine supplier or a verified parts distributor, and keep the invoice — warranty claims depend on it.

Realistic lifespan

Lifespan is measured in printed square meters and daily habits, not months. With daily printing and proper capping, XP600 heads commonly last many months of shop use. The heads that die young share the same profile: machines left idle for weeks, cleaning solution flushed incorrectly, or powder-contaminated environments on DTF lines.

Symptoms: clean or replace?

  • Missing nozzles in the test pattern after 2–3 cleaning cycles → clean first: dampers and capping station cause most "dead head" panic

  • Persistent banding in one channel after damper replacement → head likely degraded; plan replacement

  • Physical damage, ink crystallization on the nozzle plate → replace; do not scrape the plate

  • Gradual color drift over months → normal aging; replace when quality stops selling

Replacement rules that protect your machine

Always replace the damper with the head. Keep ink lines capped during the swap, follow the exact order in your machine's service video, and run a proper initial-fill cycle before judging output. Record head serial numbers — mixed old/new heads make diagnosing banding twice as hard.

XP600 vs I3200: when to step up

XP600 heads keep entry machines affordable and replacement cheap. If you print daily at production pace, I3200 heads cost more upfront but hold speed and consistency longer — the upgrade path we recommend in our DTF and UV printer guides.

FAQ

Are all XP600 heads the same? No — eco solvent, DTF and UV variants are configured differently. Match the variant to your ink type.

Can I replace the head myself? Yes with the service video and patience; if your machine is under warranty, ask the supplier first.

Why did my new head band immediately? Nine times out of ten it is a bad damper or air in the line, not the head.
