DTF Printer 60cm with I3200 Heads: T-Shirt Business Startup Checklist

DTF Printer 60cm with I3200 Heads: T-Shirt Business Startup Checklist

21-10-2026

DTF is the fastest-growing decoration method for apparel, and the 60cm two-head I3200 machine is the configuration most serious startups land on — big enough for daily wholesale orders, small enough to run from a spare room. This checklist is the one we send our own customers before their machine ships.

Equipment checklist

  • 60cm DTF printer, dual I3200 heads — the mainstream commercial configuration

  • Powder shaker and curing oven (or integrated shaker-dryer) — the step beginners most often underbuy

  • Heat press — 38×38 cm minimum for shirts, larger for uniforms

  • RIP software — confirm the license is included in writing

  • Spare dampers, wipers and a cleaning kit — one set minimum

Consumables checklist

DTF film rolls, CMYK+W ink, hot-melt powder, and cleaning solution. Order these with the machine from the same supplier — film/powder/ink mismatches cause more first-month failures than the printer itself. Budget realistic monthly consumable spend from day one; DTF margins survive only when you track these numbers.

Daily workflow

  • Print designs overnight or in the morning (film rolls run unattended)

  • Shake powder, cure, then press — 10–15 seconds per shirt

  • Warm peel or cold peel depending on your film type — stay consistent

  • End of day: run a head-cleaning cycle, keep the capping station moist

Mistakes that kill new DTF shops

Idle machines (white ink separates within days of not printing), cheap unmatched powder (cracks after washing), and underpricing — quoting per-shirt prices without counting film, powder and failed prints. Print something every single day, even test squares, and wash-test your first ten outputs before selling.

Why I3200 heads for a 60cm

I3200 heads hold speed and white-ink stability better than XP600 at production pace. A dual-I3200 60cm keeps up with a shaker-dryer continuously; dual XP600 machines cost less but slow you down exactly when orders pick up. Factory pricing for the I3200 configuration is higher upfront and cheaper per printed shirt over a year.

FAQ

Can a 60cm DTF print on hoodies and canvas bags? Yes — cotton, poly, blends, nylon, all with one ink set.

Do I need a powder shaker machine or manual powder? Manual works under ~20 shirts/day; buy a shaker before you take wholesale orders.

DTG or DTF to start? See our DTG vs DTF comparison — for most startups the answer is DTF.

Launch checklist for a 60cm DTF line

A 60cm DTF printer is only the centre of a small production cell. The checklist below is the order most successful starters follow, and skipping any line usually shows up as a quality complaint three weeks later.

  • Space and power: reserve 4×3 m, a dedicated 220 V circuit, and dehumidified storage for your film rolls.

  • Powder station: the shaker and dryer matter as much as the printer. Under-powded transfers crack after five washes; over-powdered ones feel stiff and look dull.

  • First calibration run: print a nozzle check and a 100 % black square on white film. If the black is not solid and uniform, stop and clean before producing anything sellable.

  • Wash-test protocol: press one shirt of each fabric type (cotton, polyester, blend) and wash all of them ten times before you promise durability to customers.

  • Ink discipline: log every refill with date and batch. When a head clogs six weeks later, that log is the only way to tell ink from maintenance.
